My Only Friend
To, Vihaan my first friend
Chapter 1 – Introduction
Hi everyone my name is Anna and I am 9 years old. I live in a neighborhood called as Whale Sight Hood. It is quiet far from downtown Toronto. I live with my parents and my grandparents; I don’t have any siblings and friends so that’s why I am quite lonely. I really wish I had a friend. I really like reading books and playing with my plushies [ dolls]. My mother owns a famous bakery in our neighborhood, that’s why she is always busy almost all of the time. My father is a businessman and he gets transferred frequently. This is my family.
Chapter 2 – Found him!
There I saw him, sitting all alone. I asked him what his name was and he did not reply. I was actually shocked as I had never seen a creature like him. He did not look like a human nor an animal to me. He looked like a really big bird who was funny, scary and cute at the same time. While I was thinking he slowly approached me and touched my hand, I got so scared that I froze on spot.
He said his name was Rage and he suddenly giggled out fire, I was afraid of him that I ran away home. I don’t know if he followed me or not but when I looked through the window, I saw him staring at me or maybe my house with a poker face. I never saw him again that day but all I could think of was him.
Chapter 3 – Best friends
The next day, I saw him looking at the stars right outside my door. As I knew he was not a threatening creature I gathered up my courage to go and talk to him. I slowly approached him and touched his spikes I suddenly screamed “ouch !!!” as I had got a cut on my finger after touching his spikes, because I screamed Rage got startled and started growling, because I started crying, he came near me and consoled me telling me that nothing happened and I just got a bit scared.
I felt safe and started to like his company, then in just moments we started talking for hours until my mother called me for dinner. While having dinner my mother asked me what I was doing outside this whole time, I giggled and said “nothing mom, I was just playing with the flowers in the garden, and gazing at the stars. Soon we became best of friends and we started trusting each other that we started telling our secrets to each other. I never asked him where he came from nor did he tell me anything about his life.
Chapter 4 – goodbye friend,
Months passed by, and Rage and me became best friends. Every day we used to play hide n seek and he even used to take me on a ride on his back. He was the best friend I could ever wish for. Unfortunately, one day my father’s office called him and said that he was transferred to another city far away from whale sight hood.
My father said we will be moving in another two days. I cried so much that I couldn’t sleep that night. The next day during breakfast my mother asked me why I was so sad, I did not reply so she said you don’t have any friends here, but you might make some new friends there, I was not ready to make new friends because I thought Rage was the best friend ever. That day I went to meet Rage and told him about all of this, he wasn’t too sad and he told me to move on. “Someday or the other I will find you,” said Rage. It was the day that we were leaving whale sight hood, I said goodbye to Rage with tears in my eyes.
Chapter 5 – New town
As we reached the new town, I saw a very big park and lots of children of my age playing in park. The town was really nice but I still miss Rage and the Whale Sight Hood. We reached our new house and it was 10 times bigger than our old house in whale sight hood. We started shifting all the furniture inside the house the next day. At night I always wonder what Rage is doing and thinking, does he still miss me?
One day during breakfast my m other told me “That it’s enough for me to stay alone in the house and I should make some friends” I again did not reply to that. I was thinking about what my mother told me, all night. The next day I thought my head and decided to go outside and find some friends. When I reached the park, I saw three girls making sandcastles in the sandpit, they looked like they were my age so I went asked if I could join them. They allowed and they introduced themselves and said their name was Rosie, Pamela and Violet. We three became friends and we met each other every evening, but I still used to miss Rage a lot.

Chapter 6 – We met!
Many years passed by, I am now 23 years old and I now own a resort, the resort is always busy so I have almost no free time but now I have taken a week off from work. My parents moved back to whale sight hood as my father had retired and my mother opened her bakery once again. I am going to visit my parents as it’s been a long time since I saw them. I am also going to visit an old friend, who you will find out about soon. I am leaving to whale sight hood today as I hoped on the car, I felt lots of positive energy around me. Around 2 o clock I reached our old house my parents greeted me and offered to ask me for coffee I said sorry mom I have other plans now and left the house. my mother was shocked to see me act like that. I went out and searched everywhere in town but couldn’t find him I was quite sad, but still had hope. I went home and had dinner I completed some of my work and made some calls to see how the resort was doing. Next day I got up brushed my teeth, ate breakfast and went out to search for him after some time of searching I saw a tail I touched it and guess who it was it was RAGE!!! I hugged him and said I missed him all these years he said see I told you will see me someday or the other he said as I cried tears of happiness, my best friend forever.
Chapter 7 – Rage’s story
I had found him my best friend, now I was curious about his story so I asked him and he said that he knew that I was going to ask him about himself, I was surprised that he knew that I was going to ask this to him. So, he told this to me:
His parents had died when he was a child and his aunt and uncle raised him as their own child as they did not have a child. They never told him that his parents died when he was a baby. So, he always thought that his aunt and uncle was his parents. He had friends but they were his fake friends as they were always jealous of him and frequently planned to trouble him and prank him. Just like that, his friends told his parents {aunt and uncle} that he skipped school and was playing somewhere else. When he got home from school, he got scoldings from his aunt. He got so angry and sad that he left his house and no one in his village knew where he went to this day.
That’s when Anna realized why he never told his story to anybody. They hugged each other and Anna went back home. Rage then realized that he was safer in his own little home in his world, then he went back and lived happily in their own little world.
